Objectives of this class are to teach basic skills related to the operation of the computer and to develop basic keyboarding skills to enhance confidence in being able to communicate effectively through the use of computer technology. A foundation of skills related to correct keyboarding technique, usable speed, and styles of communications for personal or vocational use will be emphasized. The use of the computer in our world today and the skills learned in this course will ve extremely beneficial for all high school students as well as for college-bound and those choosing to enter the work force directly after high school. The student will be introduced to the history of computers, how they process and store date, current advances in technology as well as instructing them concerning their capabilities and limitations. Word processing is used to teach effective communications of ideas and thoughts.

This class places students at a skill level above that of Computer Applications through the use of an Advanced Placement Test. Students must key a minimum of 35 gwam (gross words a minute) on a 3-minute timing with no more than 6 errors and score 75% on the basic document productions section of the test in order to enroll. Students will be expected to show knowledge and skills related to the operation of the computer and must have developed basic skills of keyboarding. The skills related to correct keyboarding technique and styles of communications for person and vocational use will be emphasized. The use of the computer in our world today and the skills learned in this course will be extremely beneficial for the college-bound student along with those choosing to enter the work force directly after high school.

This course introduces eh student to computer applications, which are important to business and also helpful for college -bound students. Students will learn about the capabilities and limitations of using computers. Spreadsheets, word processing, and databases will be used to teach students important problem solving skills. Students will complete realistic projects using these various applications. The history of computers, how they process and store date, current advances in technology, as well as their capabilities and limitations will be emphasized.

This course introduces the student to advanced computer applications, which are important for a variety of uses. Students will integrate word processing and spreadsheet knowledge into projects that will be incorporated into presentation applications. A large part will center on the use of multimedia - creating and constructing activities that use computer technology to seamlessly integrate text, movies, pictures, animation and sound. Enhanced learning through multimedia ensures that students will have the skills required for tomorrow's work force which requires learners who know how to ask probing questions, access and analyze information, construct new meaning from the date, and then communicate their ideas to others effectively.

Entrepreneurship will take students step-by-step through the entire process of starting and running a business. Students will learn to create a business plan and participate in hands-on projects for each chapter. Students will work in conjunction with the high school In-House Training class. The Entrepreneurship class will set up an actual business, "The Dawg House", for the In-House Training class. The Entrepreneurship class will perform all advertising and marketing responsibilities for the IHT class and "The Dawg House" school store.

This class is an entry-level class, which will cover four basic forms of law in our nation and their effect on society, citizen, minors, and consumers. A brief historical study of our legal system will be covered. Other topics include crimes, torts, laws for minors, laws for families, laws for consumers, and ethics within or legal system. This class will have guest speakers. A mock trial will be held if time allows.

This class is a continuation of Business Law I that will cover units on contractual agreements and obligations of the parties to contract; use of credit focusing on bankruptcy laws, including collateral and repossessions; employment contracts, unions and discrimination and injury laws; and studies involving protection from loss through insurance coverage. This is a year-long class available to juniors and seniors. Students may enroll in this class their junior year and again their senior year, Emphasis of this corse will be focused on performing job requests for our school district and community. This class helps develop worj skills necessary to be successful in the marketpalce. As a class, we will solicit jobs from within the school district and from our community's businesses. Class time will then be spent performing thsoe job responsibilities. Functional computer skills are essential. Students in this class will also be performing the laminating requests for our district, making posters and athletic certificates, and filling any other requests received from teachers within the district. The student's success willnot be measured bytextbook grades, but by demostrating positive work ethics and job performance.

This is a semester class. This program will allow students the opportunity to explore, in a career setting, training not available through traditional curriculum. Students will be amtched with a community mentor and will work approximately(8) hours/week, 1 class period each day of block during the semester. If you currently have employment or are seeking employment, the Work Study program will release you from school the alst period of your scheduled day to go to work. Weekly logs and a copy of our time card will be required. Each student must complete a Career Internship or Work Study Application for being an intern and the following will be considered: attendance histroy, overall credit adn disciplinary history, teacher recommendation and parental approval.After the screening proccess, the teacher will provide written notification and assign an appropriate mentor. Parental approval for he student leaving the school each day is a requirement and students will be responsible for transportation to and from workplace site.
