Absence and Illness Ð Required Excuse Ð Parents will be contacted if their child becomes ill
at school so the child can be taken home.
It is helpful if backup arrangements have been made with a second party
in case a parent is unable to come.
The school can provide no treatment other than simple first aid. Parents will be contacted if their
child becomes ill at school, i.e. elevated temperature of 99.6 or above,
vomiting, etc. Your child should
not have an elevated temperature or vomiting for 24 hours before returning to
school.
If
your child is ill, please call the school by 8:15 a.m. to let them know;
otherwise a written excuse must accompany the returning student.
The
principal or his/her designated representative will determine if an absence is
excused. To be classified excused,
a phone call on the day(s) of the absence
or a note of valid excuse from a parent or guardian shall be received in
the school office within 24 hours of the studentÕs return to school. Absences will be classified excused
for:
á
Medical/Psychological Illness
á
Appointments Funerals
á
Death in the Family
á
Court Appearances
A doctorÕs statement of health will be required after a studentÕs 10th absence in a school year; however, the building principal may excuse additional absences, if after a conference with the parent/guardian, the principal deems the request to be acceptable.
