Food Service Ð USD 470 participates in the Nutrition Program. These programs provide healthy foods
that meet nutritional standards established by the U.S. Department of
Agriculture. USD 470 participates
in the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs. If parents now get Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance to
Families (TAF) or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
benefits for their children, they are also eligible for free Child Nutrition
Program benefits. To get reduced
price or free Child Nutrition Program benefits for their children, parents must
complete an application and return it to the school. An application that is not complete cannot be approved. Reduced price or free Child Nutrition
Benefits may be applied for at any time during the year. Parents may want to apply at a later
time because of a decrease in household income, an increase in household size,
unemployment or if a child becomes eligible for Food Stamps, TAF or FDPIR. Children eligible for free or reduced
price Child Nutrition Program benefits may also qualify for HealthWave, a
