December 17, 2007: Special BOE Meeting
At a special meeting Monday, the Ark City and Winfield Boards of Education spoke with legislators to discuss issues affecting education in the districts and across the state.
Ed Trimmer, State Representative, and Greta Goodwin, Senator were present to answer questions and provide some insight into whatÕs going on in education at the state level. Kasha Kelly was also invited but was unable to attend.
Some key talking points from the night include: teacher recruitment and retention, base pay for teachers, the post-audit report, base-aid per pupil, early childhood education, funding for vocational programs and joint programs between Ark City and Winfield.
The next regular meeting will be January 14, 2008 at 7p.m. at the USD 470 District Office.
