The board shall prescribe the emergency situations for which the schools may be closed.

The board delegates to the superintendent the authority to close any school whenever any condition exists which, in the opinion of the superintendent, warrants the closing of one or more or all schools. In the event of unavailability, the board delegates such authority to the first available administrator in the following chain of command: assistant superintendent, director of curriculum and instruction, and building principal.

Each school office shall remain open until the regular closing time and until all pupils have left the building. School telephones shall be available to pupils during any emergency.
