Newly elected members of the board shall be provided all information provided to sitting board members and they will be invited to attend all meetings with the exception of executive sessions of the board prior to the time they officially take office. Newly elected and newly appointed board members shall be encouraged to attend workshops for new board members sponsored by the Kansas Association of School Boards.

Present members of the board and the superintendent may conduct an appropriate orientation program designed to acquaint new board members with the district, board policy, duties, responsibilities and other activities at the option of sitting or incoming board members.

Newly elected board members shall receive copies of all agenda, reports and other communications normally received by regular board members except information or material of a confidential nature or which is not authorized by statute.
